Women’s Passport Day at DFA: A Golden Opportunity –
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is offering a special “Women’s Passport Day” on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at all its 27 Consular Offices nationwide. This exceptional opportunity allows Filipino women, especially working women and mothers, to apply for or renew their passports conveniently.
Inclusivity at Its Best
In addition to accommodating women of all ages, the DFA’s Courtesy Lane will also welcome male senior citizens, persons with disabilities, solo parents, and overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) on this special day. “The Office of Consular Affairs (OCA) reminds all applicants that the courtesy lane privileges for women does not constitute or guarantee approval of the passport application. All applicants will be processed in accordance with the existing laws, rules, and regulations of passport processing,” the DFA stated.
Streamlined Application Process
Applicants need not book an appointment online. However, they must fill out, download, and print the passport application form from the DFA website. Women can bring one immediate family member — spouse, adult children, or adult sibling — by providing proof of relationship. They can also be accompanied by one traveling companion, but they must present evidence, such as flight or hotel bookings, confirming their joint travel plans.
“The DFA’s initiative to hold a Women’s Passport Day is commendable. It not only acknowledges the pivotal role women play in society but also provides them with a convenient avenue to obtain or renew their passports,” remarked immigration expert Dr. Maria Santos.
Extended Convenience
If an applicant fails to provide complete requirements on March 16, they will have until March 29, 2024, to comply and return to their original application site. The passport fee of ₱1,200 for expedited processing, plus an optional ₱150 for courier delivery to the applicant’s residence, must be paid in cash.
Beyond the Capital
The DFA’s Consular Offices in Paniqui, Tarlac, and Clarin, Misamis Occidental, will also offer passport services on March 23, 2024, a Saturday. Meanwhile, offices in Kidapawan and Butuan cities have already commenced their special passport Saturday services for women on March 9.
